Common health complications related to indoor mold exposure include asthma attacks, headaches, dizziness, sinus infections, and skin rashes.

You may not be able to take Synthroid if you have certain medical conditions. Tell your doctor if you have an untreated or uncontrolled adrenal gland disorder, a thyroid disorder called thyrotoxicosis, or if you have any recent or current symptoms of a heart attack. Synthroid is also used in patients who need surgery and radioiodine therapy to manage a type of thyroid cancer called well-differentiated thyroid cancer. Synthroid is a thyroid medicine that replaces a hormone normally produced by your thyroid gland to regulate the body’s energy and metabolism. For some people with hypothyroidism who have these allergies, taking Synthroid can cause allergic symptoms.

Now, let’s explore nine sneaky thyroid toxins you’re likely to encounter. Checking 13 to 24 symptoms means moderate toxicity, and more than 25 indicates severe toxicity. It is meant to replace a hormone that is usually made by your thyroid gland. SYNTHROID should not be used to treat noncancerous growths or enlargement of the thyroid in patients with normal iodine levels, or in cases of temporary hypothyroidism caused by inflammation of the thyroid gland (thyroiditis). The diagnosis of an allergic reaction or sensitivity to Synthroid can be challenging, as many of the people who have these allergies also have hay fever, lactose intolerance, or gluten sensitivity. Most often, the diagnosis is made by taking a careful history of symptoms, including how they relate to the timing of Synthroid dosing, meals, and exposure to other allergens. With the lack of alternative option to treat hypothyroidism, patients who develop hypersensitivity reaction to oral levothyroxine should be desensitized using a stepwise protocol if they are unable to tolerate alternative preparations of levothyroxine.

• The signs and symptoms of an allergy or hypersensitivity to Synthroid can take several forms.
• A sign that you may have a toxic backlog and that your detox pathways need comprehensive support is if you react to normally helpful supplements such as B vitamins, glutathione, or flavonoids, which support Phase I of detoxification.
• While these ingredients are inactive, they are not necessarily inert and may give rise to allergic reactions or other symptoms.

For Mild Symptoms or Uncertain Allergies

This should be performed as soon as possible to prevent complications of untreated hypothyroidism that can be life threatening. Some Hashimoto’s patients with a sluggish liver may also notice an extreme sensitivity to foods and drugs. Many of my clients who have reported chemical sensitivities and allergies to different foods synthroid meals and medications, would frequently react to just about any benign and helpful supplement that I would give them. These reactions are often due to the toxic backlog that is present in their body, which can cause them to react to everything in their environment as well. Levothyroxine remains the standard therapy for patients with hypothyroidism worldwide.

Desensitization

A 2017 study looked specifically at the gluten content of Synthroid tablets.

Hypersensitivity reactions to Synthroid are more common among those who have allergies, hay fever, or asthma. Previous studies have suggested a comorbidity between autoimmune thyroid disease (AITD) and urticaria. The IVW results indicated that Graves’ disease (GD) and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT) have a potential risk effect on urticaria, particularly increasing the risk of other and unspecified urticaria and idiopathic urticaria. Urticaria, mainly other and unspecified urticaria, dermatographic urticaria demonstrated a potential risk effect on HT. The mediation analysis revealed that GD likely increases the risk of other and unspecified urticaria by reducing CD4−CD8− Natural Killer T Absolute Counts, and reduces the levels of three types of T cells thereby increasing the risk of idiopathic urticaria. HT increased the risk of idiopathic urticaria through reducing the levels of two types of myeloid Dendritic Cells.
